Looking Your Best
For Your
Portrait Session

The following are suggestions for clothing, hair, makeup, etc.

Portraits are the best when the viewer's eye is drawn to your face. With minimal planning we'll be able to create an exciting portrait that will capture you at your very best!

Girls and Guys

Simplicity is always best to achieve a terrific portrait.

The clothing shown above compliments the client. The colors are subtle and there aren't any busy patterns to distract from the face.

  • Avoid Busy Patterns.

Stripes, plaids, checks, and bold prints will draw attention away from the face, creating a distraction.

  • Avoid Very Light, Bright Colors And Bare Shoulders.

These colors dominate a portrait and overpower the face. The subject will tend to look pale or a very bright color will overwhelm the image. Also, bare shoulders or tops with "spaghetti straps" will often make a subject look heavier.

  • Men Should Avoid "Busy" Ties.

Once again, choose a tie that is simple; a busy pattern will definitely draw attention away from the face.

  • Avoid Hats And Shirts With Writings Or Graphics.

Hats will cast shadows on the face and graphics of any kind will draw attention away from the face.

  • Avoid Heavy Make-up Or Changing Hair Styles.

The most popular portraits are created with a natural look and changing make-up or hair can result in a portrait that does not reflect your real personality.

  • Bring A Friend Or Parent To Your Session.

We will include a portrait of you and one other person during your session at no additional charge.

Some Final Suggestions:

Please:

  • Get a good night's sleep the night before your session.
  • Wear clothes that fit with long sleeves and avoid wrinkles.
  • Guys should try to have a fresh shave for your portrait.
  • We have the capability of digitally correcting skin problems, glass glare, and removing braces if necessary. Quotes for digital corrections can be provided upon request.
